The students together with the academic staff of Hepola kanishta vidyalaya have cultivated over 1 acre of land with banana, pineapple and some other commercial crops to support their school. Over 90%of the students of that school belongs to peasant parents who can do a very little to support the education of their children. Thus the Principle and the rest of the academic staff have decided to maintain a farm to buy most of the necessities of the school as well as of the students. According to what the principle says, the school was on a critical situation to be shut down before they came up with this new idea of a farm to generate an income. The students and the academic staff indulge in activities in the farm during weekends and after school.
Currently the school is supported by a farm in Karagahawela to get their seeds and plants. Following aims are expected to be fulfilled this year by Hepola Kanishta Vidyalaya with the income generated from the farm.
- Stationary for 165 students.
- A proper uniform with shoes and a tie for each and every student.
- Lunch for junior school students.
- The annual educational trip
If you can support the courageous journey of Hepola Kanishta Vidyalaya, that will surely be an investment for the whole nation as Hepola Kanishta vidyalaya can produce good citizens including economically successful farmers who can support the economic development of our country in the near future.
