| - Who we are? |
Kamatha is an organization formed with the expectation of directing Sri Lanka towards a sustainable agriculture which includes eco-friendly and fair agricultural practices. All of us at Kamatha organization are currently studying at the faculty of agriculture of university of Peradeniya who have one goal in common of making Sri Lanka self-sufficient in food and all other necessities. As we believe this goal can be attained only if we introduce a sustainable agriculture which is made by blending our values, our indigenous knowledge, our native resources and the sweat of our people with new eco and socio friendly findings and technology to our country. Kamatha team is highly dedicated towards the activities to realize the above goal. Our activities are fallen on five streams as conservation, exploration, making public awareness, guidence and capacity building. |

| To drive Sri Lanka towards self sufficiency & prosperity by exploring and conserving our indeginous knowledge and resources, making public awareness on our heritage and right practices of sustainable agriculture and guiding our country to the right direction while involving in capacity building activities to support those who are in need of our immediate help and satisfying our stakeholders by helping them to reach their expectation at our best level. |
| - Our Objectives |
01. Being a voice to the scholars, farmers and other people with a great practical knowledge on various aspects of traditional farming systems of our country to bring their voice to the policy making table and get their support on the agricultural development of our country. 02. Making people of the country aware of the importance of preserving our eco system, traditions and other native values for the well existence of the forthcoming generation. 03. Collecting and promoting our indeginous knowledge on agriculture and finding ways to intigrate its concepts and values with the modern agricultural practices to accelerate the agricultural development in Sri Lanka within an environmental friendly frame. 04. Promoting indeginous foods and beverages and preserving their sources for the future generation. 05. Making the country aware of the applications of the developing concept sustainable agriculture as a major step of directing the coutry towards an eco-friendly,profitable and socially accepted agricultural system. 06. Satisfying our stakeholders by helping them to solve their problems related to ;agricultur,educational and environmental issues and making them meet with their expectations which can be benificial for both them & the society in short run or/and long run.Our stakeholders can be, - The government of Sri Lanka - Farmers and their families - CBOs, local NGOs and INGOs - University community - Other higher educational and vacational training institutes - School community - Private sector organizations - Environmentalists and other interested individuals and entities |
