Kamatha is an organization formed with the expectation of directing Sri Lanka towards a sustainable agriculture which includes eco-friendly and fair agricultural practices.
All of us at Kamatha organization are currently studying at the faculty of agriculture of university of Peradeniya who have one goal in common of making Sri Lanka self-sufficient in food and all other necessities. As we believe this goal can be attained only if we introduce a sustainable agriculture which is made by blending our values, our indigenous knowledge, our native resources and the sweat of our people with new eco and socio friendly findings and technology to our country....

The students together with the academic staff of Hepola kanishta vidyalaya have cultivated over 1 acre of land with banana,pineapple and some other commercial crops to support their school. Over 90%of the students of that school belongs to peasant parents who can do a very little to support the education of their children.
